The Young Writers' Project 2023 brought together young African voices to tell their stories, share their poems, and celebrate the power of creative expression.
At the heart of this initiative was the compilation BOTHO-UBUNTU: A Collection of Short Stories & Poems, featuring 67 young African writers. The book was compiled by Dr. Gladys Ke-Di-Bone Mokwena and celebrates the richness of African storytelling traditions while giving young writers a platform to be heard.

The launch event brought together community members, educators, and young writers to celebrate the publication. Through readings, discussions, and workshops, the project affirmed that every young person has a story worth telling and that writing is a powerful tool for self-expression, healing, and social connection.
The Young Writers' Project is a cornerstone of our Literacy & Learning programme. By nurturing creative writing skills, we help young people find their voice, process their experiences, and connect with others through the universal language of story.
